Coronial inquests and findings

The Northern Territory's coroner’s office investigates unexpected or suspected deaths on behalf of the community.

These types of deaths are called reportable deaths.

The coroner decides whether to hold a public inquest into a death. This is also called a public court hearing.

After an inquest, the coroner publishes their findings, which sets out their decisions and recommendations.
