Our purpose

We exist to:

• support community safety
• enhance access to justice
• uphold the rule of law.

Our strategic goals

Over the next 4 years, our work will be guided by three interconnected goals that address current challenges and focus on long-term, meaningful impact:

1. Improving the system - we will focus on initiatives to ensure an efficient and effective justice system so that we can enhance access to justice and meet the demand for the department’s services.
2. Strengthening the system - we will work with communities and key partners to tackle the root causes of crime which in turn will reduce pressure on the justice system and support safe communities.
3. Boosting our resilience - we will improve the way we work to increase employee wellbeing, capability and organisational impact.
