Northern Territory Aboriginal Justice Agreement
The Northern Territory Aboriginal Justice Agreement is a turning point in how the NT Government, aligned Aboriginal organisations and Aboriginal Territorians will work together to improve justice outcomes and services for Aboriginal people in the Territory.
The Agreement is founded on research, evidence, and the views and experiences of Aboriginal Territorians collected through 160 consultations.
The Agreement promotes strong leadership and a shared commitment to achieve change.
Over seven years, this Agreement aims to:
- Reduce offending and imprisonment of Aboriginal Territorians.
- Engage and support Aboriginal leadership.
- Improve justice responses and services for Aboriginal Territorians.
Together, we can ensure Aboriginal Territorians in contact with the justice system as victims, offenders, witnesses, and families are treated fairly, respectfully and without discrimination.
